Middle EarthBackgroundCirca 1982Middle Earth was a great (in our eyes and ears) college garage rock band. We consisted of: Scott the percussion player was a really intense dude that reminded me of Willem Defoe. The first time we met him, he showed up at one of our gigs with a set of bongos. He wanted to sit in. Part of our big finale included the Santana tune Black Magic Woman, so percussion would be hot! But, we were a big mic'ed up loud band and this dude wanted to play bongos without a microphone... he walked towards the stage with an awesome instense look... and sat down in from the of the drummer (he and Doobie were roomates) ... and blew the room away!!! I used to have a picture of Scott playing with shreds of white medical tape and blood flying off his hands... he beat the crap out everything! Middle Earth played some cool tunes and even some original songs that Randy had and I had written. (Check out Sunrise (my tune) -> Child Of The Wind (Randy's tune).
